SCOTTISH NURSING DEGREE PROGRAMMES
Since 1960, Scottish Universities and Higher Education Institutions have offered men and women the opportunity of graduating as a nurse and there are now six degree nursing programmes located in Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
These programmes are aimed at students who wish to practise nursing and who also wish to study to degree level. The main subject of study in all programmes is nursing, and some in-depth study of relevant natural and social sciences. There are different emphases on the supporting subjects in each of the six programmes.
In all the programmes clinical nursing practice has been planned to give a wide range of experience. Students have supervised practice in adult nursing, learning disability nursing, mental health nursing and children's nursing. On successful completion of the course students are eligible for the award of a Degree and registration on the appropriate part of the Professional Register.
Each institution sets its own minimum entry requirements and you should contact them for further information. Applications should be made to UCAS and not to CATCH. A package of general information on all Scottish nursing degree programmes is available from the NBS Careers Information Service. You will find the relevant addresses listed in the Useful Addresses section.
