General Nursing Council for Scotland
(Education) Fund 1983

Research and Study Tour Sponsorship

One of the prime functions of the GNC Fund is to encourage new or inexperienced researchers to become involved in research activity.

Applications are therefore invited from registered nurses, midwives and health visitors, resident in Scotland, for a limited number of annual awards for the following purposes:

  1. Innovative small scale research projects related to nurse, midwifery or community care education or clinical practice, resulting in a report of relevance to the NBS;

  2. Pilot studies possibly leading to a further full scale research project and resulting in a report of relevance to the NBS;

  3. Study tours resulting in a report of relevance to the NBS;

  4. Study tours undertaken for the purpose of gathering data to facilitate the development of a pilot programme at a later date and resulting in a report of relevance to the NBS.

Awards, from the General Nursing Council for Scotland (Education) Fund 1983, which incorporates the Margaret Callum Rodger Midwifery Award, will normally be in the region of ?0 to ?000.

Applications to the Fund will be considered by the NBS Research and Developments Committee in February each year and awards paid out from April each year.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications will be the end of January each year.
